Thin Lips

Water - the Natural Source of Beauty
Water, a natural source of beauty and life, nourishes your skin. It provides hydration to keep skin supple and defines the curves around your lips and around the contour of your face. Over the years, your skin loses its ability to retain the water needed to do these things.

With the use of hyaluronic acid which is naturally produced by the skin, it is now possible to remove facial wrinkles and define the curve and contour of your lips, giving them a more sensual look.

Natural Beauty
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found throughout your body. It gives volume to the skin, lubricates the joints and gives the eyes their shape. At Nuëeva we use only specially formulated long lasting hyaluronic acid products from Medicis Aesthetics. These products are of non-animal origin to limit the risk of allergic reactions.

More than 1.5 million injections have been done in over 60 countries. Developed in a highly controlled environment using the most advanced technology, the products used by Nuëeva meet the health industry’s highest standards. These products provide long lasting results, far beyond what is commonly available on the market.

How long the treatment lasts depends on factors such as age, complexion, lifestyle and the technique used for the injection. Most patients come back for a follow-up treatment after 6-12 months.

Thin Lips FAQs
What happens during a treatment session?
Tiny amounts of Restylane® or Juvederm™ are injected using an ultrafine needle, causing minimal discomfort.

Do I need to have a skin test?
No. Restylane® or Juvederm™ are non-animal-based and fully biocompatible, therefore allergy testing is not required.

Are there any side effects?
The occurrence of reaction to Restylane® and Juvederm™ is very low. However, some common injection-related reactions may occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve themselves within a few days after skin injections and within a week after lip injections. About one in 2,000 patients have experienced localized reactions thought to be of a hypersensitive nature. These have usually consisted of swelling at the injection site, sometimes affecting the surrounding tissues. Redness, tenderness and, rarely, acne-like formations have also been reported. These reactions have either started a few days after the injection or after a two to four week delay, and have generally been described as mild to moderate, with an average duration of two weeks. For more information please consult your health care professional.

Why do the lips sometimes swell immediately after a treatment?
The cause of this is not yet known, but there is no reason to believe that this is an immunological reaction. Normally, the swelling is gone within a week after injection into the lips.

Can Restylane® or Juvederm™ be used if I have undergone laser treatment or chemical peeling?
If you have recently had some other kind of facial treatment, it is recommended that you wait until the treated area is totally healed and the skin has normalized (usually 4-6 weeks) before you undergo a Restylane® or Juvederm™ treatment.

Can patients with allergies of different kinds be more sensitive to Restylane® or Juvederm™?
Yes. Patients with severe allergies or anaphylaxis should not use Restylane® or Juvederm™. Patients who have a history of allergies to gram positive bacterial proteins should also avoid Restylane® and Juvederm™.

Do Restylane® or Juvederm™ stiffen in cold weather? What happens in the sun?
You should not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g. in a solarium, under a UV lamp or sunbathing) or extreme cold for the first few days after the treatment, in order to avoid the risk of inflammation to the treated area. However, once Restylane® or Juvederm™ has integrated into the body, it will adjust to your normal body temperature.

How long will the effects of a treatment last?
The length of time a treatment lasts depends on many factors, such as the structure of your skin, lifestyle, age, the degree of perfection demanded and the injection technique of the health care professional. Experience indicates that touch-up and follow-up treatments will add to the duration. Most people choose to have a follow-up treatment within six months after the initial treatment.

How will my skin look without follow-up treatments?
The correction will gradually disappear until your skin looks like it did before the treatment. Follow-up injections will help you maintain your correction.
