How does StarLux® Fractional Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing work?
Highly advanced laser technology delivers light in an array of narrow, focused "microbeams", to create columns of coagulation within the skin. These columns initiate a natural healing process that forms new, healthy tissue. This results in improved skin appearance.
What areas can I have treated?
StarLUx Fractional non-ablative treatments can be performed on most areas of the body, including the face, chest, arms, and hands.
What makes StarLux Fractional non-ablative treatments different from other skin resurfacing methods?
Some skin resurfacing devices, such as CO₂ lasers, use the ablative method, which removes the epidermis and some of the dermis. While good results are eventually seen, the drawbacks include red and raw skin, down time and a risk of infection for several weeks after treatments.
Our device uses the non-ablative method: sending light pulses into the epidermis and dermis, while leaving the stratum corneum in place. This allows quick recovery.
Are these treatments painful? What should I expect after treatment?
You may experience redness, warmth, swelling, or tightness in the treated area, which typically fades within a few hours of treatment. The skin may often have a pinkish tone for 5-7 days. Generally, you can receive a treatment and go back to work or to other activities without any recovery time.
With our "easier on the skin" fractional non-ablative process, the light pulses are confined to narrow columns in the skin, allowing for a quick healing process. Some people notice positive changes in skin appearance within a few days.
A series of treatments at 3-6 week intervals maybe be required to achieve the desired results. Your treatment provider will be able to give you more information about StarLux Fractional Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing treatment and expected outcomes.
Why this process may be right for you:
If you are interested in a less painful option to CO₂ ablative laser procedures, and if you prefer to resume your daily life without extended recoveries, our gentler treatments may best suit your needs.
